One of the pillars of electronic dance music as we know it Ricardo Villalobos has shaped how many of us view music in general. His enigmatic personality, his wizard like control behind the decks, and his sometimes prolific, eclectic output makes him, even in a year without a release, the most respected DJ on the planet. As he remains fixed in his fascinating apartment in Frie…drichshain with the occasional excursion to Ibiza or London, we Americans must wait longingly for his return.
To appease this wait, we at JQM offer a night to celebrate his music and his craft in one form or another. Each of the three selectors for the night bring a unique aspect of Ricardo’s craft to present a night in his honor for your enjoyment.
PeteOne – besides the obvious resemblance (which can be scary at times) PeteOne takes an overwhelming amount of pride in his similarity to RV. His recent summer mix was tagged by the man (don’t believe us? http://soundcloud.com/peteone/summer2010promo) and his search for every RV release available commercially (or otherwise) continues tirelessly. With a (traktor) crate full of his best tunes, PeteOne will take you on his best RV journey with impeccable selection, pace and the irresistible feel of a classic RV set.

Beema – with his production company, No Man’s Land, Beema’s brought cutting edge dance music to this area long before the big releases dropped and the world renowned residencies began (try getting Seth Troxler and Shaun Reeves on the same bill nowadays). That said he brings much of the vanguard technology to the evening’s night. Expect white label releases on labels you wish you were cool enough to pronounce correctly. His well known love of RV met its peak in 2008 when meeting the man at his Canadian performance at Mutek. A class act and DC techno fixture he will pull out all the stops to honor his hero.
Adam Ross – In many ways, Adam Ross’s performance will model the typical RV performance most accurately. A devotee of vinyl, he collects both old and new with remarkable ear for insatiable rhythms similar to those made so famous by the master himself. His self imposed devotion to wax and choice cuts hopes to bring the night to life as he and his cohorts honor Mr. Villalobos.
