tracklisting: – Coming Soon
FEATURED ARTIST:
Adultnapper ( NYC/ USA )
( Ransom Note Footnotes, Audiomatique, Clink, Dirt Crew, Mule Electronic, Crosstown Digital Rebels, Nummer Schallplatten )
“Adultnapper” is a shadowy figure drawn from the dark reaches of Francis Harris’ imagination. Harris, a philosphy phD drop‐out with punk rocker roots, hails from suburban Las Vegas but has called Brooklyn home for the past 9 years ‐ a stretch in which he has gone from “hating dance music,” to establishing himself as an underground DJ/Producer with a unique sound and a global audience.
In 2004, having achieved success as a DJ, Label Owner and Event Producer, Harris turned to the studio, intent on exploring new sonic territory, and adopting the Adultnapper moniker to represent his efforts. What emerged was a reaction against the skippy rhythms and repetetive loops that had dominated the electronic dance music landscape. Instead, Harris took a sophisticated, song‐based approach, characterized by elaborate swung micro‐rhythms, thick musical baselines, complex
arrangements, haunting tonal melodies and brooding introspective atmospheres ‐ and tastemakers took note. A steady stream of Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels ‐ Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. ‐ and have been hotly tipped by elite DJs ‐ Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards,Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. ‐ thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music.
In 2007, seeking a platform on which to further develop the Adultnapper persona,Harris launched Ransom Note, a concept label with a cohesive narrative that unfolds with each release. Much like a graphic novel, using text, the “ransom note,” and imagery, a series of drawings by performance artist John Stroud, the label‘s jackets will tell the story of this anti‐hero who is part creative genius gone awry, part tortured dystopic philospher, part paranoid vigilante outlaw.
Still, it is when Harris himself is in control of a dancefloor that Adultnapper
is truly brought to life. Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two
records, Harris’ precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer ‐ an uncommom distinction. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion‐laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discenring floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

10.Chris Fortier Interview
11. Chris Fortier Mix for JQM – @ El Infienro Cordoba, Argentina (August 29, 2009)
FEATURED ARTIST:
Chris Fortier ( NYC / USA )
( Fade, EQ, Bedrock, Dialtone, Blipswitch Digital, FDS, Omnis, We Are Here )
While many people may claim to know Chris’ sound, with their focus on continually labeling him one thing or another, Chris is equally as focused on his efforts to push back the musical boundaries. It is testament to the man that he continues to develop his sound and musical direction, after all, as the man says himself “I just like to play good underground music, I don’t limit myself.”
It is artists such as Chris Fortier who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’ determination to continue to push the envelope can be seen in all aspects of his career. Proof of this can be found on his recent triple CD compilation Balance and his recent solo productions under the 40oz moniker and his stellar debut artist album As Long As The Moment Exits.
The Balance 007 CD genuinely offers something exciting and underground to the current stale compilation market. Boasting tracks from across the musical spectrum like David Gilmore Girls, Global Communication and Floppy Sounds through to Slam, Matthew Jonson, Rabbit in the Moon and Bent. It is little wonder the CD was name checked for compilation of the year by numerous international press publications.
Under his 40oz production guise Chris has released the several EPs that musically could fit comfortably on labels such as Cocoon, Kompakt or Get Physical. Recent remixes of Alexi Delano, Joshua Collins, Patrick Zigon, Floppy Sounds, Alland Byallo, DJ Yellow and John Selway, show Chris’ genre defying sound at it’s underground best. Taking this a step further in 2007, his debut artist album was released to countless plaudits and impeccable praise. Followed by the remix version of the album saw Chris work along side the likes of Bruno Pronsato, Pheek, Ed Davenort, Mark Broom, Someone Else, Maetrik and Joel Mull. Not satisfied with status quo, look for the boundaries to continue to be pressed and pushed with each coming musical excursion.
With a DJ career spanning 15 plus years, he has continually been a crowd favourite, confirmed by his very first residency at the legendary “Aahz” in Orlando through to more recent residencies at The Cross in London and at Twilo in New York. Since a debut European tour in 1997, Chris has gone on to consistently tour the globe behind numerous singles, remixes and no less than 9 mix albums. You can catch him as easily in Tokyo as in Buenos Aires and all points in between on any given weekend.
To those that know Fortier’s history, they know to expect plenty more to come, for those that are just getting initiated, Welcome!

FEATURED ARTIST:
Alexi Delano ( NYC/ US )
( Audiomatique, Clink, Immigrant Recordings, Items & Things, Plus8 , Poker Flt, Trapez, TrueSoul )
Alexi Delano dwells in the perfect balance between shiny minimalism and dark vivacious techno. With more than two decades on stage he has been able to combine different roots and facets of the contemporary music scale.
Alexi is intimately linked to the Plus 8, Clink Rec and Truesoul labels and each one of his projects has been leaving foot prints on the minimal/techno scene. He performs constantly in clubs around the world and in prestigious events.
Born in Chile but raised in Sweden, Alexi, with fellow Swedes like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback, Joel Mull and others, became part of some of the first wave of Swedish electronic music producers that made a name for themselves in the mid 90’s. Releasing on techno labels such as Missile, Primate, Hybrid, Svek and many more.
With a production and DJ style that sways neatly between house and techno, he consistently surprises with each release. Just listen to his “Would You?” track released on Magda, Troy Pierce and Marc Houle’s label ‘Items And Things’ of the M_nus family; or the acid house classic “Believe Me” that he co-produced with Jesper Dahlback for Steve Bugs ‘Poker Flat’ label; continue with his and Xpansul’s huge “Echolocation” track on Richie Hawtin’s ‘Plus 8’ label and you will get an idea of this mans eclecticism and creativity.
Now in 2009 Alexi Delano has no intentions of slowing down. He has a string of E.P’s and remixes lined up for the year, his new solo and co-productions will soon be at a store near you.
He‘s a man who seems to be made of music.

FEATURED GUEST:
Dilo ( Buenos Aires, Argentina / Berlin, Germany )
( Igloo, Minus, Adjunct, Airdrop, Soma, Einmaleins, Telegraph Records + many many more )
Dilo, also known as Elephant Pixel (and Franco di Lorenzo), a night active member of the rare species of very open-minded producers who connect the two distinct worlds of rock and electronics via pop, IDM and experimentation, is an utterly musical being which baffles the world of zoology as until now, some of his behavioral characteristics have yet to be explained: If you lift him out of his nest, the Igloo, and expose him to daylight, the furry fellow starts to make squealing, reverberating noises. Navigating through the dark tunnels and alleyways of its habitat, Dilo orientates himself by employing ultrasonic frequencies that bounce back and forth and thus trigger the sonic sensors that guide him.
Rooted deep in a high-rising part of Buenos Aires, and in his temporary home of choice, Berlin, two of the craziest and most vibrant music cities, Dilo is known for his eclectic and exquisite taste in audio. His productions that sound like crystalline experimental upbeat hip hop techno drones with a loopy undertone of clicky random shuffle murkiness are, quite simply put, some of the most marvelous releases around, and as part of the smooth sounding ice cream pop band Monotax he’s done an incredible job to get electronic music lovers into live band formats again.
Regularly surfacing on various labels — may it be on his own imprint, Igloo Records, on which Dilo manifests himself with reduced yet very tight and heavy productions that have you gripped as hard as a drunk sailor’s fist before he pulls you into a dark corner and eats your eyeballs –, he’s also published music on labels as varied as Telegraph, Einmaleins, LessIzMore, Esperanza, Adjunct, Minus, Unfoundsound, Soma, We Are, Leftroom, Romanphoto, amongst others. And it does not stop there: now joining up with Los Angeles’s oddball [a]pendics.shuffle, he creates yet another goofy identity for his output: Cascabel Gentz.
Dilo was remixed by artists such as Dandy Jack, (a)pendics.shuffle, Dapayk, Jay Haze, Ernesto Ferreyra, Bruno Pronsato, Franco Cinelli, From Karaoke to Stardom, Seuil, Barem, Ryan Crosson, Seph, Shadi Megallaa, Gurtz, Funzion, Tolga Fidan, Jorge Savoretti. He remixed artists like Sutekh, Camea, DissOnance, (a)pendics.shuffle, Mark Henning, Kasper & Papol, QiK, Gurtz, Funzion, etc.
His live and dj sets have been heard in Argentina, USA, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Germany, England, Romania, Belorusia, Russia, Ukraine, Columbia, Costa Rica & Uruguay.

10. Burnski Interview for JQM
11. Burnski Mix for JQM
FEATURED GUEST:
Burnski ( Leeds, UK )
( 2020 Vision, Dessous Recordings, Poker Flat, Morris / Audio, Trapez, Infant )
Burnski is an exciting, young artist for whom the future holds untold possibilities. By night, he holds down a DJ residency at one of the UK’s outstanding club nights and by day, he is a tireless and imaginative producer who, each day, rarely misses as an opportunity to experiment with sounds from his subterranean studio bunker in the north of England.
Laying down a marker from his very first release back in 2005 on the highly respected Trapez label, Burnski has continually upped his game and is now a regular contributor on Morris/Audio, 2020 Vision and, most recently, delivering a succession of highly rated offerings on sister labels Poker Flat and Dessous.
The latter half of 2009 will seen several prime time remixes emerge from the Burnski production house, for Immigrant Records, Poker Flat and on Milton Jackson’s emerging Dark Energy label. On top of this, the next batch of eagerly awaited releases include ‘Old School Swing’ on Plastic City, and his follow-up EP for Dessous ‘The Light’, which is slated for an autumn release.
As a DJ, Burnski is a steadfast vinyl advocate always armed with a bag of fresh music. His sets are intuitive and trained by the versatility of his residency at Leeds’ legendary Back to Basics, whose hedonistic and party-centric crowd are used to receiving the world’s best underground DJ’s on a weekly basis. Switching from warm deep house to groovy peak time techno, he is capable of showcasing a wide variation of sounds across the spectrum from jazz, disco, electro, dub, house, minimal and techno – a style now familiar to some of some of the most established clubs in Europe such as Fabric, Watergate in Berlin, The Loft, Barcelona as well a particularly memorable rooftop DJ set in the skies above Beirut.
His long awaited North American debut is also scheduled for late 2009. The world awaits..

FEATURED ARTISTS:
1.
Trus’me ( Manchester, UK )
( Defected, Far City Recordings, Prime Numbers, Stilove4music, Compost, DFA )
In the winter of 2006, on a whim, David James Wolstencroft, aka TRUSME, sent some of his work to various labels around the globe. It paid off. The now legendary CD sampler “Nards” led to the immediate release for TRUSME on the Still label, sparking the beginning of a promising musical career for one very talented individual.
TRUSME’s musical roots trace way back to an early age where he dabbled with various instruments. He began studying production, but soon developed a love of vinyl culture, which shifted his focus towards the art of mixing and digging for unique samples.
Surrounded by the heads of Manchester and its deep routed scene his musical taste has continued to evolve, resulting in eclectic DJ sets where his passion exudes. Naturally, this diversity shines through in his production: “Like bookends, some 12”s will work with both the beginning and the end of the night, such is the classy sampling from TRUSME.” Peter Nicholson XLR8R Review March 2007.
TRUSME’s debut release on Chicago’s Still Music label was quickly follow by two more, all blowing up on both sides of the pond and accelerating the buzz on this new artist. His production is constantly compared to Moodymann and our such Detroit luminaries with releases usually snatching ‘Record of the week’ in hosts of global outlets from Piccadilly Records – Manchester to Jazzy Sport – Japan. He’s also getting love from all the right supporters, Ashley Beedle, Rob da Bank, Mad Matts, Kenny Dixon Jr, Amp Fiddler, Chris Duckenfield, Rob Luis….and the list keeps growing. His debut was first championed by Gilles Peterson on BBC radio 1: “If there was ever a house record made for me, it would sound like this.”
Dec 2007 sees the release of his first album. Entitled “Working Nights”, this captures some of the previous singles along with a host of future classics which re-enforce the Trusme sound.“it’s difficult to name highlights when every track is so good” seems to be a common reaction from a growing global fan-base. One thing’s for sure it is a timeless debut that’s sure to last. “i am actually blown away from the flow, production and music…my kinda housemusic for sure. 100% soulful” Michael Rutten – Compost
In less than a year Trusme has established himself as a serious and prolific producer with a huge career in front of him. 2008 will see the launch of his own label imprint “Prime Numbers” an outlet for him and other great artists that fit the ethos Trusme is about. He has lots of projects under way for Defected, Tru Thoughts, Eskimo and the second album is already rolling with some exciting guests involved….It’s time to catch a rising star in the making!

2.
Detroit Grand Pubahs (Detroit, USA \ Geneva, Switzerland)
(Detelefunk, Logistic Records, Music Man Records, PokerFlat )
Originally founded by Mack Goudy Jr. (Paris The Black Fu) and Andy Toth (Dr. Toefinger) in Detroit back in 1998 today’s Detroit Grand Pubahs consist of Paris, his alter egos and the Mysterious Mr O: butcher extraordinaire.
Of course it’s the usual story about hardship, inflatable cheese, high court banning orders, laser-firing buttocks and straightjackets. Few lead s(w)ingers these days can have a crowd eating out of their hands whilst wearing a giant nappy, beard and turban but somehow Paris The Black Fu’s Terrorist Diaper chic is the new couture look for spring 3007. If techno is Kraftwerk jamming with George Clinton in an elevator then the Pubahs have got Spike Milligan on drums, Richard Pryor on bass and the Hair Bair Bunch on vocals.
But the Pubahs are no novelty act. There is method to the madness and bass in the badness. Its just that something went awry in the funk lab and Paris The Black Fu just hasn’t been feeling himselves ever since. It’s all about personality (well split personalities) and a mission to put the fun(k) back into techno. For many the realm of a faceless façade, Paris sets out to engage the crowd and bring the party. And that’s what it was all about in the first place, wasn’t it?
The teaming of Mack Goudy Jr. (aka Paris the Black Fu aka the Schizophrenic Brainchild of Funkno aka Dr. Bootygrabber) & The Mysterious Mr O was a natural disaster waiting to happen. Miraculously, the personalities of these two tweaked characters seemed to compliment each other perfectly and their uncontrollable infatuation with booty (butt, ass, gluteus maximus) instantly bonded them together.
The original Pubahs started out on Brian Gillespie’s tiny indie ‘Throw’ label, releasing the underground club hit ‘Sandwiches’. When a Jive Electro A&R man, dutifully out buying records at a local strip club, heard it he immediately knew he had something special and prepared to unleash it on the world. Since then, they’ve scored a pop hit in a number of countries and an underground classic worldwide. They’ve also taken their live show to another level, with Paris donning multiple costumes and personalities and encouraging the crowd to participate in the funk.
Their debut LP, “Funk All Y’all,” a mixture of funk, techno and a healthy dose of the bizarre was a call to arms for techno get down like a sex machine whilst the second long player, ‘Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus’ on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat imprint, spawned two club hits with ‘The Clapper’ and ‘Big Onion’ and torched the way for big bottomed, velvety cheeked electro-house.
At some point during the lab stage process of Dr. Bootygrabber’s ass transplant the Mysterious Mr. O’s talents with a meat cleaver came into their own and the Pubahs become two again. Adding more steel (and of course dashing looks) to the Pubahs roadshow this non-stop techno/electro cabaret act has been all around the world and back taking their electronic lo-fi funk into clubs and large festivals alike. Move your ass and your mind will follow.
The Pubahs now also run their own label, Det.Ele.Funk (or to give it its full title ‘Detroit Electro Funk’) and Paris has been busying himself with various other projects including The Lotterboys on Eskimo Recordings, guest vocals for The Advent’s superb ‘Scent of a Woman’ and new projects with St. Plomb and Marc Romboy to name a few.
With the re-release of the Black Panther sampling ‘Riot 66’ Paris is gearing the Pubahs up for a new full live show to feature guitars and percussionists and work is currently in progress for a new, more song orientated album with Detroit and Chicago influences. A project with Dave The Hustler called ‘Filth N Dirt’ is also currently taking shape, mixing rock and roll with funk and current new live favourite ‘Rolling Papers & Bush’ (a song about George Bush’s war on drugs) could well be a pointer for the shape of things to come. Delivered, of course, with a huge side order of funk insanity to go.

FEATURED ARTIST:
K.atou ( Athens, Greece / Berlin, Germany )
( Einmaleins, Goosehound, Lick My Deck, Lomidhigh Lmtd., MIRmusic, Resopal Schallware, Woods N Bass )
K.atou started her DJ career as a teenager growing up in Athens, Greece. In her late teen years, moving to Corfu, K.atou continued DJing frequently at parties and she produced a radio show every weekend at Life Radio. For the duration of the next year,K.atou organized a series of parties called ‘Elektro Soundz’.
In 2004 K.atou moved to London, England to attend university on a scholarship. In London, K.atou’s horizons broadened, and she found herself being introducing to new sounds, which in turn facilitated her creative growth as a DJ.
In 2005 K.atou moved back to Greece and she was pleased to find a scene very receptive to her newly found sounds. Her DJ career gained momentum and she was booked at clubs throughout Greece. With her colleague DJ Fanny G, K.atou founded a collective called ‘Les Rythmes Minimales’, in order to promote the minimal sound she loved.
During the Winter of 2005 K.atou founded another collective called ‘:MinimalAthens:’, along with Zero:One and Bonzo.
In 2006, the New York label Goosehound assigned her as one of their ‘foreign diplomats’. After a trip to the US and Canada for some ‘musical meditation’, K.atou commenced work on her own productions. Her first major collaboration with Nutown Project Found was released on Einmaleins Musik in 2007 and was received very well.
By June of 2007 K.atou was living in Berlin, having established her international status as a DJ, and touring in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA, as well as many other destinations.
In 2008 K.atou continued her collaborative work with many artists in production and she lent her unique vocals to other producers. In addition K.atou organized the occasional event.
2009 saw K.atou working on some new projects, including recording vocals for Steve Lawler and Italoboyz.
She played at PS14 in Miami, and she also traveled to Mexico where she played in a small and beach town called Playa Del Carmen at Hotel Basico, Bar Americas in Guadalajara and AM Local in Mexico City.
At Detroit’s Electronic Music Festival, she played several popular afterparties including: Resolute, 9 to 5, Soulcity 303 and Pulse Bar. In the fall of 2009, K.atou will appear alongside Ellen Allien, Wignomy brothers, Gummihz, Argy, Kreon, Lemos and others at the Entechno Festival in Athens.
This fall 2009 K.atou is preparing the release of an EP for a label to be announced soon, and she has an EP coming out under her ‘Janet Davis’ alias for Lomidhigh Lmtd.
As K.atou’s career continues to evolve – each year is more fruitful than the last.

12. Stefny Live DJ Set – Picnik Electronik 2009 – WEEKLY RECORD CHECK EXCLUSIVE**
FEATURED ARTIST:
Stefny Winter ( CA, USA )
( Addon, AirDrop, Archipel, Contexterrior )
Stefny’s true love has always been music. She came from a classical backround.
Playing the flute and self taught the piano, at this time she was able to pick up just about any instrument and play it. Later her influences came from 80’s electronica, new wave pop, and classic rock.
After discovering the sound of raves in the early nineties from California where she was born and raised, it wasn’t until she moved to Colorado that she naturally
started to DJ in various events in 1996. Inspired by Californian collectives such as The Wicked Crew & Funky Techno tribe, she brought with her a strong background of various influences that ranged from acid house to techno, and eventually brought her to drum n’ bass.
Spending her time between numerous residencies, Stefny eventually caught attention of bigger projects such being a DJ for Red Bull in 1998. Her unique way to be able to bring a mix from one style to another drew more and more attention as an original way to bring life to a party.
2002 she relocated to New York. A Brooklyn‐based DJ/producer Stefny Winter, has spent a lot of time dedicated to the studio. Being part of a women collective in NYC and organizing events brought her new ideas which also altered her musical direction to something more stripped down with a slower bpm, as well as bringing her own personal touch. She played in numerous events in NYC, the most renowned being The Bunker and the Resolute Events. Also playing Chicago and Detroit, Montreal’s Picnik Electronik and recently toured Japan, she had the floors moving with her funky, deep and quirky sound.
Meeting with various producers such as Tim Xavier, and the Alka Rex guys introduced her to a whole range of new ideas. Strongly inspired from the bouncy rhythms of house, and the depth of bass in drum n’ bass, she felt she could also bring something of her own in her productions.
“I hear the rhythms and melodies of everyday life and try to translate them into my production. Taking it to an intensity of deep, dark, melodic, and driving bass, however I interpret a feeling at a given moment.”
Stefny’s first released production, a remix on SF’s label Hector Works in 2005.
In 2006 she lost her hearing in one ear and it actually made her focus more on her compositions’ for she was unable to DJ for a while. It was her way to keep her sanity.
You can read a complete interview about it on FWD.DJ.
http://www.fwd.dj/interview/stefny-winter-interview
Her debut single that had caught recognition was released in October of 2007 on Dietrich Schoenemann’s Addon imprint and was supported by Ryan Elliot of Spectral. In March of 2008 she contributed two tracks to the DJ tools compilation Assignment 3, on Pheek’s Archipel label.
A Digital EP on Archipel, Migratory Insertion was supported by Matthew Dear and Three. Stefny did remixes for San Francisco’s label De’fchild Recordings and has also done co‐produced remixes with Nick Chacona for DJ Ulysses Sodium label out of New York wit, and Darko’s Lucy Lee Quality Recordings from Belgium.
For 2009 she has an EP with partner Pheek Japan Excursions Joint 3, and a single on Contexterrior, Speakeasy EP, with a remix compilation coming on
Hallucination Limited.
She is open for tour dates in Europe September – December.

Jonnie Perrella ( Detroit, USA )
( Exodus )
Jonnie Perrella in the DJ world, started djing in 2000 after numerous years of attending parties and being an electronic music lover. He has shared the decks with international DJ’s such as Sasha, Luke Fair, Demi, Junkie XL, Brian Kage, Luke Hess, and some of Detroit’s best; including Derek Fox, Derek Plaslaiko, Rich Korach, and Eric Johnston. Jon started listening to electronic music in the mid 90’s after being turned on to the music by a close friend. Later, he bought his own mixer and turntables after seeing John Acquaviva at Motor Detroit during the 2000 Detroit Electronic Music Festival and began spinning with one of his close childhood friends, Derek Fox. This is really where it all began.
Jon, having been greatly influenced by the founders of the Windsor based Plus 8 records, Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva, has been playing House, Tech-House, Techno, and Minimal for the 9+ years. He discovered early on that he likes to be diverse with the music because he enjoys various types. Jonnie developed and mastered his DJ skills living in a small apartment in East Lansing, MI while attending Michigan State University where he later graduated. He then returned to his home base of Detroit and focused his time on work and music.
In early 2004 Jonnie took up a residency at Harry’s Detroit, a local neighborhood lounge. The weekly ran every Friday from February 2004 to October 2004. Later, in July 2004, he hooked up with fellow DJ and close friend, Derek Fox to start a once a month residency at The Works Detroit. In 2005, Jon moved his career to Boston, MA where he built a solid reputation as one of Boston’s finest DJ’s. Later in 2006, Jon returned back to Detroit and took some time away from music. In 2007, Jon was back on the decks honing his track selection and composition of his mixes. In 2008, Jon moved to the modern day digital form of music utilizing programs like Traktor. For now, Jon is focusing on the structure of his DJ sets making people move their feet on the dance floor. There is no telling what is in store next for Jonnie but he believes production accompanied along side his attention grabbing DJ sets lies ahead…
“This music is about the people, it’s about coming together as one. Let’s all keep having fun and I’ll see you on the dance floor.” – Jonnie Perrella

Holosound ( NYC, USA )
( Citric Recordings, Nightshade Music, Ultra, Slanted House )
Holosound began in 2003 when Alex Fish and Noah Becker met on the beaches of Miami at the Winter Music Conference. Shortly thereafter, they teamed up to combine their unique backgrounds in music to form something refreshing and viable to the current state of dance music. Four years later, Noah and Alex have produced countless original works and remixes under the Holosound moniker and built their monthly CITRIC party in NYC into an established and prolific label, CITRIC Recordings. These achievements showcase their dedication to bringing their vision to the scene.
As time has gone on Noah and Alex both felt their calling within electronic music differ more and more and, using history as their guide, chose to part amicably in November, 2008 in order to allow each one to pursue his own interests.
Alex Fish will continue with the Holosound DJ/Production name and Noah Becker will continue to spearhead finding fresh and exciting music to release on CITRIC as well as begin work on finishing an album that has been very close to his heart for quite some time.
Holosound as a solo project is an opportunity for Alex to showcase an uncensored view into what excites him about dance music today. Taking Holosound on as a fully solo project will also give him the chance to grow as an individual from both a production and performance standpoint.
His current radio shows include his North2South show every 3rd Monday of the month on Friskyradio.com as well as a biweekly show on di.fm’s Exposure NYC Channel. He recently hosted the Groovanauts.com GroovCast 013 for December ’08 and was the featured artist on danceradio.gr for the week of Dec 10-17.
Keep an eye out for past original and remix work on CITRIC Recordings, Plusquam Division, Slanted House, and Ultra as well as a forthcoming remix due out on Universal Music of Alanis Morissette’s single “Not As We.” Looking forward, Alex will be launching “Holobound Theory” a mouthpiece for all things Holosound.
Many artists are already onboard with the project and some names to keep an eye out for are Pako and Frederick, JdotP, Nosmo vs. Kris B, Lukas Greenberg, Christopher Manik, Karran and Porter, Mike Kiraly, Jason Kilgore, Rodskeez, Dudu Nahas (D-Ignition Project), Andreas Bergmann, Midex as well as some exciting new faces (Amine Edge, Nomad in the Dark and more tbc.)

FEATURED ARTIST:
Eric Cloutier ( NYC, USA)
(The Bunker | Down | NYC via Detroit)
In a genre and movement all too predictable with the same fifty records playing forever on a continuous loop, Eric Cloutier is quietly making himself stand out amongst Detroit’s next generation of producers and DJ’s. A DJ since 1996, he began on the same circuit of Detroit parties and clubs most have traveled, eventually establishing residencies at Ann Arbor’s Necto and Detroit’s prominent after-hour party spot, The Works.
He performed at both 2004’s Movement festival as well as 2006’s Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and has shared the decks with world-famous DJ’s such as Daniel Bell, Steve Bug, Jan Krueger, Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott. In 2005, he was handpicked as a chosen replacement for the next batch of DJ’s at Detroit’s monthly “Untitled” parties, renowned for their brazen and intricate approach to techno in Detroit.
Now based in NYC, he works closely at The Bunker with fellow Detroit DJ Derek Plaslaiko, as well as starting his own monthly, Down, focusing on the deeper, sexy, more heady side of techno and house. Tasteful yet mildly abrasive, his blend of minimal techno infused with dub sensibilities firmly entrenches his sound in Detroit’s rich past while looking towards the future.

FEATURED ARTIST:
Michael Serafini (Chicago , USA)
(Gramaphone Records)
As the owner and one of the buyers at Gramaphone Records and working there since 1995,
Michael’s influence on the Chicago scene can not be understated; he has provided and selects
records for most of the working djs here in the city through the years.
Stylistically speaking, Michael is an innovator. His sets are a hypnotic blend of deep house and
techno grooves, with his eyes on the future while still maintaining a respect for the past.
Between his residency of 6 years at one of Chicago’s most revered House nights, the
Boom Boom Room; an 12 year old residency Tuesday nights at Cocktail; frequent guest spots
around the city; and his new responsibilities as the owner of Gramaphone Records, Michael’s
influence on the Chicago scene can not be understated.
He’s been spinning vinyl for the last 20 years and selects records for most of the working DJs
in the Windy City. Stylistically speaking, Michael is an innovator. His sets are a hypnotic blend
of deep house and techno grooves.
Michael Serafini is an authentic Chicago pure breed. He’s from the South side of Chicago.
He first showed interest for DJing in the late 80′s but didn’t start performing in a club until ’93.
In fact, few people realize that Michael actually started getting involved in the EDM scene as a
VJ by mixing music videos well before playing records. Before becoming the owner of one of
the most famous Record shops in the world , Michael Serafini worked at Best Buy as a supervisor
for the music department. He worked there full time while also working at Gramaphone.
Best Buy at the time was like Tower and Virgin Records, where music lovers bought the music for
the store’s own personalized selection. However, their policy changed a few years down the line,
and music was bought in a first time by a regional person and then at the corporate level.
Soon enough, they canceled their imports or anything that pertained to local interest.
When Best Buy begun to only purchase from the generic major labels he decided to quit.
He then traded his part-time position at Gramaphone for a full one and eased his way in.
He would feel obligated to help some customers out and soon became known for his tasteful
recommendations.
The rest is history.

Heidi (Berlin, Germany)
( Get Physical)
Heidi grew up in Windsor Ontario in Canada, which is just across the border from Detroit Michigan. Coming from a family of music lovers, the house was always filled with a variety of classic rock, blues and folk throughout her childhood. Originally an indie kid, she started travelling to gigs in Detroit as soon as she could. The music scenes of the Motor City and Chicago left a deep impression on Heidi and her record collection. Influenced by her electronic producing friends in Windsor, gradually developed a love for techno and house music. Moving to England for a year in 1997 her eyes were opened even wider to the joys of underground dance music.
She moved to London permanently in 2000 to immerse herself in the music scene, clubbing every weekend and hanging out in record shops. In 2002 Heidi got a job working at the now defunct Koobla Records, and in 2003 was part of the team that opened up London’s foremost record shop, Phonica. Through her work she gained invaluable experience of the scene and underground culture. her excellent Dj and artist contacts soon led her from vinyl fanatic to budding DJ. She’d been putting together sets for many of the countries top djs, so it was a natural progression for her.
In 2004 she met Patrick Bodmer and Phillip Jung otherwise know as the german electronic duo M.A.N.D.Y. They became great friends and it soon lead to gigs together in Berlin where it really started to take off for her. In 2005 Heidi started playing all over Europe and Russia with regular visits to Italy, Spain, France and Germany where she plays regularly in Berlin at the Panorama bar and Watergate club and at The Monza club in Frankfurt and Ibiza where she also holds a residency. She also became a regular at Fabric, London’s leading underground dance club. In 2006 Heidi did her first release “Vejer” on Get Physical which was a track with her partner Riton. It was an exclusive to go on the mixed compilation CD for Monza Ibiza that she also did. It received rave reviews. She was building her skills and gaining experience for 2007 which was her busiest year to date.
This was the year that really shaped Heidi as a DJ. She was playing all over the world and in a different country every weekend. She rocked in Miami at the WMC and then it was the 5 years of Get Physical european tour which saw her playing alongside Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y, DJ T. and the rest of the gang. As well as releasing another track with riton “To The Gum”. A slice of filthy Chicago influenced house for the compilation which accompanied the tour. Then it was off to Detroit where she played her home coming gig in the Beatport tent at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. It was a real triumph for her being able to return home and play in front of her family and the people that she looked up to and admired when she was a teenager living in Windsor. Dreaming of one day being able to play in Detroit. Heidi also did her first north american tour which saw her rockin dancefloors from New York to Los Angeles to Vancouver. The summer was full of exciting times as well. She slammed the Loft club at Sonar in Barcelona and drove the kids to insanity at Monza In Ibiza. Then in the autumn she embarked on her first australian tour which saw her showing her skills and bringing her sound and excitement to Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and meeting up with M.A.N.D.Y in Melbourne to play a gig that will stay in minds of everyone who attended forever. The end of the year saw Heidi return to North America and Mexico for another successful tour. She’s a hard working DJ who loves her job and wouldn’t change anything for the world.
Heidi is currently working on an album for Get Physical with her partner Riton. She is also returning to Mexico and North and Central America for a huge tour with M.A.N.D.Y in the spring. Keep a close eye on this lady. More good things are to come from her. Her energy behind the decks and her style of djing is infectious. It’s hard to stand still when she’s in control and if you have been to see her play you will understand.

EPISODE 27 featuring – Ellen Allien
Ellen Allien (Berlin, Germany)
( BPitch Control )
Berlin – I grew up feeling surrounded by the wall. I lived on the small island of west berlin.
Border controls on Sunday excursions, the rummaging through bags, the military. It was scary.
But the quote “all quiet on the western front” still didn’t really apply, as lots of things were
happening that wouldn’t have been possible anywhere else. The island of west Berlin was a
destination for creative minds in search of alternatives. Music was and still is my outlet.
Alongside tinkling on the electric organ, teaching myself how to read notes and my jukebox with
a collection of singles in my room, my ears were first intrigued by the revolution of neue deutsche
welle. It was fantastic! For the first time people were singing in the language you could
hear out on the street: ideal, grauzone, nina hagen – pop meets punk. Things happened so fast.
Minimal sounds made from machines entered the charts. For me it was kraftwerk “model” that
changed everything. I discovered that pop also worked without any frills. My side of Berlin
provided a home for the curious, those who were going against the flow.
However, it was only when the wall came down that Berlin became Berlin again – the city that
lets me breathe. After spending a whole year in London I realized that despite the acid jazz house
euphoria there, only one place felt like home – Berlin, the city of possibilities. Being able to
breathe, to drive and walk wherever and with whoever i wanted. And no more borders.
I was immediately fascinated by east Berlin, by this atmosphere of curiosity and get-up-and-go.
There was room for experiments. Electronic music united east and west.
I started to focus on music and art. At first that meant playing the saxophone, learning about
fashion, hanging out in rehearsal rooms and taking classes in acrobatics. To finance it all,
i worked behind the bar in the fischlabor, which happened to be the meeting point of the
up-and-coming music network. I mixed my first tapes and suddenly became part of the
emerging Berlin techno scene, which started out in empty industrial buildings, houses and cellars.
Ellen became Ellen Allien.
Courage
Berlin nightlife. I had my own radio show on kiss fm, worked at the delirium record store and
finally founded my first label brain candy. It felt as if music had swallowed me whole. With
brain candy i made a serious attempt at releasing the kind of abstract techno i liked best.
I had enough of compromising. Some of it was just the courage to pave my own way.
The closing down of the first big berlin techno clubs was a setback for the scene, though
i interpreted it as a sign to get something new going in the midst of disorientation. The party
series bpitch control was a good start. I wanted to hang on to the music, to materialize it, so
i founded bpitch control records. The parties were no longer just memories, now people could
take them home, too. The label was mainly an organ for me and other people who i found
talented and worth supporting. To me, bpitch control is glamour, community and exchange
platform all at the same time.
Productive
as a dj i have always tried to connect genres, styles and audiences. I want to feed people new
music and capture their interest. I want to fill the room with sound. And i have always been
searching for an acceptance of what exists. We all live in the here and now!
And it was that common thread that i wanted to share with the audience. When i dj, body and
music become one, they become brainy. To me, music was always the only way to soar through
epic parallel worlds, to relax, to experience excess, to find myself. Music is both my motor and
my outlet.
As a producer, music is a playback of my emotions and moods. I tease them out of me with
alternating technical devices. Music becomes a chronicle, each album is a work from a period of
my life, which grounds me after the stress of dj-jetting. Albums are like diaries. With my first
album “stadtkind” i wanted to express my close relationship with the city i live in. It was like an
explosion. “stadtkind” is my homage to berlin. The testing, work and experimentation with the
structures and the sound spectrum of electronic music then became more and more crucial for
me. I used my various compilations and remixes to beam myself into the musical cosmos. With
my next album “berlinette” i processed what i had experienced after the release of “stadtkind”.
It was like a flash of lightning, i was everywhere and everyone around me was euphoric and
supportive. “berlinette” illustrates all that and it is also my very personal discourse on what is
possible in the world of pop music and abstract sounds. Then i released my third album “thrills”.
It moves back and forth between constant excitement and playing the arp 2600 and other
analogue instruments.
In 2006 apparat and i decided to do an album together. We went into appart’s studio and had
a great time – looking over the roof tops of berlin in winter, playing around on different
instruments and synths, trying things out. “orchestra of bubbles” is a really nice electronica
album with parts both of my and apparat’s style.
During summer 2006 we performed our live sets all over the world, played big festivals and
were sweating like crazy each time. It was a challenge and an inspiration for both of us.
When i was asked to represent berlin for a dvd for time out i was happy to accept. It’s a really
cool thing for people who don’t know this great city and want to know about it. I show my
favorite places and also did a mix that goes along on cd. Fabric has always been my favorite
club and i was proud to be asked to do an exclusive mix for them, which has been released in
may 2007.
Beside my different remix projects (f.i. Thom yorke, beck, troy pierce, ect.) That was something
i really enjoyed doing in my studio. Whenever i have time i do my own fashion. In summer 2007
i already launched my third collection.i like doing fashion design – i like to draw and the choose
fabrics. I only do very few pieces, it’s all very exclusive and it’s more my hobby than a business.
Music is still my main interest – my love and my life. It’s interesting to see how different
equipment and software changes the styles of music all the time. Changing
studio equipment keeps the productions flowing.
Techno is still what it about. It minimal, reduced, deep and rough at the same time. I would say
thattechno and i have developed together.
Sensual
in my work, graphics, music, artwork, visuals and fashion merge.
Body
dance, space and lust for life overspill. I search for the fulfilling dance. Body, belly and brain
start to swing and uplift me/us. Music is the drug – nothing else!
Travel
travelling with my record case, living out of the suitcase. The hotel is my home. Experiencing
new worlds and cultures and accepting them; understanding, how things work in other places.
Sharing views and politics. A club unites people without words. It – the music that speaks.
Recognizing the beauty of the world and absorbing the otherness. Home is far away and not
important. It – the unknown that attracts my attention, and i want to know it!
The mix
the mix is everything. I push myself to the absolute limit, sweating, and the thrill is that the
room will become our room.
In may 2008 my fourth solo album “sool“ has been released. One single (sprung/its) and other
three remix releases (out, elphine, ondu caress) of “sool“ follow the same year.
Shortly after my new ellen allien fashion tshirt line **plus** comes out. In september 2008 the
jetlag tour together with modeselektor starts.
The year 2009 starts with a very special anniversary: 10 years of bpitch control, 10 years of
music, working together, following the idea of acting as a collective, fostering of exchange and
communication, entering new territories and having fun while doing so. Actually, this year
bpitch control signed many new artists. Indeed, i can honestly say that i´m very proud to work
together with so many talented artists. In january my new ellen allien fashion spring/summer
collection 09 came out. This time i decided to launch two different lines: the everyday quartett
line and the rather elegant but nevertheless sexy and cheeky mainline. Then i started my
worldwide dj-tour which brought me once again to japan, the states, mexico and many other
thrilling destinations. Now i´m working on our new festival concept sasula which will be held in
berlin on mai 29th. Besides all that i´m currently finalizing the next ellen allien fashion
autumn/winter collection.

09. MATTHEW HOAG INTERVIEW
EPISODE 24 FEATURED ARTIST – MATTHEW HOAG
Matthew Hoag ( Ljubljana, Slovenia )
Jesus Loved You, Elisir Music, Curvve,
Follow Records, Little Mountain Recordings, Vandit
If you’re an anonymous music aficionado, music professional or a sexy Pacha girl, there are two things you should really know about Matthew Hoag: meeting him in person will always be entertaining, but joining him for a night of clubbing will always be a life changing experience. This vivid, cheerful, friendly bon vivant isn’t just one of those guys who only wants to know everything about the music as an art and the whole business behind it. He’s foremost a really nice person whose works are an excellent reflection of his embrace-the-globe trotting life attitude.
The earliest seed that indicated Matthew’s future career was hidden somewhere on the dance floor, was his passion for light shows. As a teenager he became light-operator for the matinees in one of the local clubs. A few years latter he took a job at the local radio station. That’s where he learned how the radio station worked,
and how the programs were being put together. He also became a skillful technician, and he received exposure to a lot of different types of music. “I guess this is the main reason why I can’t be limited to one genre as an artist.. “I was exposed to all types of music, commercial and non commercial. In that period of my life I grew a taste for good alternative music. I even explored genres such as jazz and blues.”
Meanwhile his career took a big leap forward as he became “illegal” light operator at the infamous Ambasada Gavioli Club. This wasn’t his job. More precisely stated: he wasn’t even allowed to come near the console by the boss. But the resident deejays liked his touch and invited him into the booth whenever possible. “I was hanging around to listen to the sets of Valentino Kanzyani. Ambasada was the playground for the biggest names in the business, and Sven Väth was the one that really stood out of the flock. His human energy, power of his music, his ability to control the dance floor are what ultimately convinced me to become a deejay.”
Although he really didn’t want to follow Sven’s or Valentino’s sound. “I’ve started with house, explored the progressive and I guess I could be considered a tech-house artist nowadays,” summarizes Matthew who as a very versatile and eclectic artist doesn’t brand himself. He broke through as a deejay when he was spotted by Valentino Kanzyani at a party in Croatia: “Valentino is one of the biggest figures in my life. He’s my brother from another mother,” likes to jest Matthew about their friendship. “He invited me to join his office, where I was taught every aspect of label management and music promotion business.” Then 2008 saw Matthew kicking the dance floors around the globe, from Columbia to Turkey, from Spain to Greece, from Germany To Brazil.

EPISODE 22 FEATURED ARTIST – JAMES TALK

JAMES TALK ( Southampton, United Kingdom )
CR2 records, Fragile Recordings, Groove Digital, Saved Records,
NRK, Noir, Azuli, Bedrock, Global Underground, Spoken Recordings,
Get Physical, UrbanTorque, LOT49…
If you’ve been anywhere near an electronic music event in the past few years,
the likelihood is that at least one point during the evening you will have been
moving to the hypnotic sounds of James Talk.
Born and bred in Southampton, James’s reputation has been forged on endless days
in the studio perfecting his unique sound of funky tech and acid house, and spellbinding
performances at some of the biggest clubs on the planet.
Things have happened very quickly for James, but to all those in the industry who
have been involved with his meteoric rise, none are surprised at his success, and
this was demonstrated in February 2005 when James was invited to supply the guest
mix on John Digweed’s Kiss 100 show. The mix earned praise from far and wide,
and James has never looked back since.
One of his many supporters Nic Fanciulli, has already signed three of James’s tracks
to his uber cool Saved imprint and featured them on his recent Renaissance compilations,
whilst props from djs that include Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells,Pete Tong and
Steve Lawler amongst others have helped push James’s sound to thousands of listeners
around the world. Further sustained success has since followed.
In 2006 James was voted as DJ Mag’s Breakthrough Artist by Nic Fanciulli, Sander
Kleinenberg and Fergie, whilst i-DJ featured James alongside Max Sedgley and
Braund Reynolds as ‘One To Watch’ for the future. His work alongside Audiofly on
‘Cool Wet Grass’ was signed to Get Physical whilst ‘Eggs Are Cute’ became one of the
most successful releases on the Nu-Republic label. James has since launched his own
label ‘Spoken Recordings’ which is an outlet for his own material, and his releases ‘Remote’,
‘Warm Milk’ and ‘Pass Me The Suntan Lotion’ have cemented the label’s position as one of
the most exciting new monikers on the market. On the remix tip, James is one of the most
in demand new artists on the scene, with projects for Underwater, CR2, Data, Big Love,
Saved and Little Mountain Records that have seen him remix on artists that include
Danny Howells, Stakker, DJ Pierre, King Unique, Buick Project, and Fedde Le Grand – every
single remix different from the last, but encapsulating the essential rhythm and groove that
is synonymous with James’s sound. If all this wasn’t enough, James’s dj diary continues
to grow with gigs all over the world. Amazing performances at Ministry Of Sound, Womb,
Shindig, Renaissance, Godskitchen and Coloursfest have seen James tear the floor apart,
and with debuts at various festivals and events all over the planet in the coming months,
James Talk is the name being spoken by promoters and club goers in all four corners of
the scene.

EPISODE 21 FEATURED ARTIST – MULATTOS
MulaTTos ( Tai Pei, Taiwan / San Juan, Puerto Rico )
82 RECORDINGS, LAND OF VOODOO RECORDINGS,
STRIKE RECORDINGS, ARTEFEKZ MUSIC
Joel Latimer and Jonny Cruz are the two childhood friends behind the Puerto Rican duo that
make up MulaTTos. As kids, they never imagined they’d be producing Techno together when
they grew up. But after a few old school underground parties in the exotic outdoors of Puerto
Rico they realized tha electronic music was their destiny.
Both graduated in 2003 with a Recording Arts degree from the renowned Full Sail Media School
in Orlando, FL. Their Drum & Bass background stuck with Jonny who went to Cleveland and
continued producing D&B. J.Latimer went back to Puerto Rico and worked in a well-known
Rap & Reggeton studio in San Juan as a Sound Engineer. He then started to work in the
Puerto Rican film industry as a boom operator, sound mixer, and audio-post engineer which is
his current freelance profession. Nonetheless, both friends always stayed in touch and kept
working in their makeshift studios. A few months went by before they decided to team up again
and start doing what they’ve always loved, House music. They added their own little psychedelic
twist and made their tracks sound more like techno, tech- house, and some times minimal.
And that’s how Mulattos was born.
For those of you still wondering about significance of Mulatto, it is a term used to describe
a person whose origins are from both a black and white ancestry. This is the case for Joel
and Jonny as well as the majority of people in Puerto Rico. This also best describes their
relationship as producers since their blend of tastes is what makes this arising duo so unique
and special.

EPISODE 19 FEATURED ARTIST – DEREK FOX
DEREK FOX ( Detroit, USA )
( Opiuchusaudio )
Detroit’s industrial wasteland gave rise to a cornucopia of electronic music as well as
providing multiple unique underground dancefloors. Derek Fox began exploring this
underground in 1997.
One year later he started experimenting with sound through Djing and production.
In 1999 he began venturing out into the playing field. Since then Derek Fox has played at
many venues throughout Detroit. The world famous Motor Lounge,The State Theatre, Bleu,
The Works, Northern Lights, Exodus, ClubOneX, CityClub,Russel Industrial, and countless
other warehouse venues, are some of the Detroit hot spots that he has entertained.
In 2006 hewas invited to play the Paxahau hosted Movement Festival. His approach to Djing
is more of a science than an art and, through technical precision, he has tended so effectually
to polish and adorn his craft. Derek Fox features a track selection spanning from techno to
house and everything in between, accompanied by a wide range of available sounds and
effects, enabling him to blend a perfect audio cocktail for the evening at hand.Derek Fox was
the promoter and host of the monthly event Departure held in Detroit. After ending his 2 year
run with Departure, he partnered up with friend and colleague Mathias Matthew to begin
the Brio project.
The Drip events hosted by Brio brought a new unique spin to Detroit’s electronic community.
They used blank canvas venues to emphasize focus on the performers while complimenting the
venue with minimal eccentric visuals. Unfortunately, due to relocation and career priorities
the Brio project’s Drip events were placed on hold. While hoping to one dayre-hatch the
Brio project objective, Derek Fox has begun a personal project called Opiuchus Audio whose
objectives remain veiled or now.
Opiuchus Audio is still but an infant but he hopes to bring the project’s destiny to light within
the year.

EPISODE 17 FEATURED ARTIST – Iggy Dub
Iggy Dub ( San Juan, Puerto Rico)
( RedShield Records )
Igor Blazevic, aka Iggy Dub, comes to us straight from Croatia. He’s a very promising European
DJ and music Producer. He was first inspired by electronic after listening to artists such as
“The Prodigy”. Soon after, he was introduced to the techno scene by discovering music from
Dave Clark, Jeff Mills, Umek, Richie Hawtin, and Sven Vath. He refined his touch and created
a unique flavor by widening his spectrum to downtempo, nu jazz, dub, house, dnb, jungle, and
including these genres in his sets. A few years later, he landed a series of gigs in local clubs
including world renewed Opium Club and Jamaica Beach Bar.
Production is another aspect of his work and, as such, he is moving forward very quickly with
his original passion, pumped up with groove, and most importantly, soul. Currently, his sets
are diverse and deep. They vary from soul with a twist of jazz, funk, and dub, to minimal,
tech-house, and sometimes (Including for WRC 17), Drum & Base. All of us at JustQualityMusic
are eager to see what the future holds for Iggy and hope that you’ll enjoy one of scene’s
undiscovered talents on this week’s WRC 17.

EPISODE 16 FEATURED ARTIST – RENE HOFHAUSER
RENE HOFHAUSER ( Los Angeles, USA )
( Noice!, Proton Radio )
East German transplant and current Los Angeles resident Hofhauser has always loved electronic
music. There are not many emerging artists that study the music and pay attention to trends
the way this budding DJ does. His attention to detail has caught the ears of show host
Harry Avers and has landed him a residency on the NOICE! Radio show on Protonradio.com,
one of the internet’s best underground radio stations.
When the wall came down in 1989, many underground clubs emerged from the rubble.
In the early 90’s, clubs such as The Distillery in Leipzig became a hotbed for musical talent.
It was here where Hofhauser got his start, swaying crowds back and forth until the wee hours
of the morning. Back then it was house music reigning supreme – when asked recently what
style of music he plays, Hofhauser responded with a smile: “I play funky minimal, groovy, deep,
quirky electronica with a melodic edge.”
Just listen to one of his sets, and you will understand why the NOICE! Crew approached him
for a residency. His sets will take you on a journey into the minds eye. It will take you on an
early morning trip through the rubble of east germany. it will take you where you want to go.
Wherever “there” is.

EPISODE 14 FEATURED ARTIST – JEFF ANDVIK
JEFF ANDVIK ( Ann Harbor, USA )
( DI.FM, Dumber, AtlantDigital, Audioholics Anonymous Recordings,
Often Gruven, Omnis Recordings, Navigation Limited )
Norwegian descent, Jeff Andvik focused his creativity on music at the early age of 9,
spending countless hours working with beats and DOS based tracking. His devotion
to music exploded in 2000 when he moved from Norway to the United States at the
age of 16. Excited by then- foreign sights and sounds, Jeff found his niche in
Electronic Dance Music, developing an insatiable diligence to learn anything and
everything in the industry without the help of his peers. In his last year of college,
Jeff’s dedication to EDM paid off when he realized his experimenting and dedication
to learning had led to major breakthroughs in production.
Always one to break free from the mold and never afraid to be different, Jeff started
and continues to explore new ways to set his individual sound apart. Determined to
keep his music truly distinctive, he purposely deviates from the analogous undertones
ever-present in EDM, bringing us unconventionally fresh, crisp, original, stimulating beats
that paint a colorful picture of Jeff’s unique blend of EDM.
With numerous releases and remixes on Dumber, Omnis, Audioholics Anonymous and more,
Jeff continues to explore and set new precedents in EDM, gaining respect and support from
Dumb Dan, Topspin, Ken Cable, Andy Fink, Chris Norman, Trevor Nygaard, and many more.
Jeff’s radio show “The Andvik Effect” gained much support on di.fm, but is currently on hiatus
due to other creative projects. (But it will return!)
We look forward to hearing more innovative releases from this talented producer.
