ARTISTS INFO:
Eric Johnston ( W + L, Archipel, Esperanza, Leftroom.. – DETROIT )
A Detroit native, Eric Johnston starting DJing in 2000, but has been a passionate music lover his entire life. In the course of 30 years he has taught himself several different instruments, which has greatly extended his appreciation of all genres of music, whether dance friendly or not. This creativity, ambition, focus, and breadth of imagination is what drives his perpetual quest for the creation of new, unconventional sounds…sounds which push the boundaries of any and all clearly defined dance genres, whether it be minimal, house, tech-house, or techno. From the looks of his release schedule, his unorthodox approach appears to be generating some attention.
His first major track, produced in 2007, was quickly released by New York’s Wolf + Lamb label. “Headphone Hairstyle” was placed on major charts by the likes of Troy Pierce and others, and was played by Ricardo Villalobos almost immediately after its release. Eric’s music and stunning performances have gained him headlining slots into clubs across the United States and Europe – playing such places as Watergate and Week12end in Berlin, Cityfox in Zurich and Pratersauna in Vienna.
His first full release, “Waiting for Weird,” came out in February 2008 on Detroit’s own D Records and has been played by and included in Len Faki’s mix – Berghain 03. His second EP, “I Should Have Listened to Bella” was released in late April 2008 on Madrid’s Esperanza label, home to other exciting, genre-stretching artists like Dario Zenker, Jorge Savoretti, Seth Troxler, and Franco Cinelli. A third EP, further expanding his musical depth, was released in March 2009 as the rebirth Montreal’s Kalimari imprint. In both his live PA and his DJ sets Eric always has one ear toward the best of the classic Detroit sound and the other toward the cutting edge of European dance music, creating his own distinctive sound.
Today, Eric continues to work with established artists and release his masterwork with labels such as Archipel, Leftroom and Cityfox.

Steve Bugbee – ( District Ignition, mnmlife, Pseudo Society – DETROIT/DC )
Growing up minutes from Detroit played a huge role in Steve’s lust for techno. After years of exposure to the pioneers and up and comers molding the genre, he moved to Japan in 2002 courtesy of the Marine Corps. Steve began moonlighting and promoted events in Okinawa, creating a house & techno movement which helped him expand to Tokyo, Osaka and Thailand.
Steve formed the first District Ignition party in 2006 before the crew had even formed together and coined the name, joining forces with DC’s DJ 2rip & Jezereck to form the PreFix parties. As the party continued to grow, so did the crew and the District Ignition name. They now continue to host one of the longest running parties in DC, Snatch (Rewired).
After having shared the stage with a number of majors such as Matthew Dear, Francois K, Steve Bug, and Davide Squillace to name a few, seeing Steve’s name on a flyer occurs a lot less these days. He blames this primarily on too much processed food, losing more hair, and excess consumption of fine scotch, and is okay with it.
Associate ( Adam Ross ) – ( JQM, – DETROIT/DC )
associate’s path to the dj booth was by no means a straight one. Born in Detroit, his loving parents and grandfather took him to weekly symphonies where by the age of nine he was singing on stage. One of his fellow choir mates introduced him to underground punk which he took to overnight. By age 20, his palette delved in many directions including post bop jazz, fusion and the occasional metalheadz compilation.
That was all changed when a German approached him in a dark bar and asked from where he came? Upon hearing the motor city, the German spouted off a dozen names and went frantically teetering about explaining the mistaken path his life had taken. None of these names sounded even vaguely familiar. From this day forward, associate immersed himself in electronic music. Through the medium of a data entry position, associate was afforded ample leave to study Derrick May, Theo Parrish, Plastikman and every other important artist who attached to the city. As time passed he casually promoted and collected records for listening on the family record player. By 2007, most people knew of his association to Detroit within five minutes of meeting him or simply by looking at his Tee Shirt that day. In addition, he had many hours logged of service to his techno and house brethren in record shops, festivals and message boards, expanding knowledge and good cheer.
In 2008 the bug hit and associate began to collect vinyl at a pace most might drink water. His patience and well developed ears served him well as his collection is now sought after among local DC DJs. As he begins his career he shares a passion to inform, educate and move through listening. His top tens resemble those of Efdemin, Dixon and Lee Curtiss. He selects music which creates the same bliss he experiences on each listen and hopes to spread his spiritual connection throughout the area.
PETEONE ( JQM – CHICAGO/DC )
Born in Poland, Pete is a Chicago based DJ, Producer, Promoter, and host of his own radio show – “Weekly Record Check”. These roles have allowed him to gain experience and insight in the world of electronic dance music.
As a DJ, his style of music can best be described as a mix of deep and sexy tech-house. He’s particularly known for reading the crowd during his sets and directing his music towards his audience while feeding off their energy. With a decade of experience under his belt, Pete strives to make each set unique by combining current EDM trends with quality and nostalgic beats of the past.

DEREK PLAISLAIKO [ The Bunker, Spectral, NYC ]
Some people filter through the record bins, taking what are on the wall or record store employee suggestions. Then there are people who dig deeper into the dusty crates, and absorb music like a sponge; ignoring labels, bucking trends and are forever on a quest to find the perfect record. The ones that make the staunchest of chin stroking, note taking trainspotters lose their shit on the dancefloor, hanging on every record from one to the next.
Derek Plaslaiko unquestionably falls into the latter category. As a teen equally transfixed by Mojo and Wizard cassettes and Minor Threat 7”s, Plaslaiko followed the beats from his hometown 20 miles south of Detroit to the epicenter of Detroit techno, then enjoying its third wave of success. He quietly paid his dues on Detroit’s rave circuit, and was a crucial piece of the puzzle for the legendary Poorboy and Analog parties of the mid-nineties. He quickly earned a reputation for forward thinking DJ sets that were clinical, sophisticated and extremely sensual. This combination resulted in a residency for Family, the weekly party at Detroit’s legendary Motor.
With a reputation for high energy sets that were versatile and tasteful, Plaslaiko slowly became in demand on the Midwestern club circuit; sharing the stage with such techno luminares as John Acquaviva, Kevin Saunderson, Richardo Villalobos, Baby Ford, and Matthew Herbert. It was also during that time Plaslaiko was asked by Carl Craig to perform at the inaugural edition of the Detroit Electronic Music Festival.
In 2003, Plaslaiko became part of the original team of DJs at Detroit’s Untitled parties, sharing a residency with Tadd Mullinix (aka James T. Cotton), Matthew Dear and Mike Servito. In 2004 he made the decision to head east and set up camp in New York City, determined to bring a slice of the Motor City to the Big Apple.
Currently, Derek is one of the resident DJs at the Bunker (Subtonic) in NYC, as well as an integral part of the Wolf + Lamb monthly parties. Most recently, he was honored in the Village Voice 2006 “Best Of” poll as New York’s Best Techno DJ.

JOEL CHANDLER [ Joel-Chandler.com, DC ]
Washington D.C. native, Joel Chandler, is one of the most promising Producers and DJs to come out of the area. His innovative sound is saturated with layered percussion and ground shaking baselines mixed with lush pads. Joels musical ambitions and experience grew from as early as age 3. While still a small child he wrapped rubber bands around the arms of a chair, creating a makeshift guitar. During his childhood years Joel was trained on a number of musical instruments, including the bass, violin, clarinet, and saxophone. Starting off with the drums at age 5, his taste for lavish percussive sequencing and rhythmic melodies grew throughout adolescence.
He was introduced to electronic music by his brother in the mid 90s. Albums such as Flukes Risotto and Prodigys Fat of the Land intrigued the young musician. Sounds and environments could be created from samples, loops and hits, sounding like nothing of this world. As a teen Joel experimented with production on his computer and searched for the freshest electronic music by artists all over the globe. Dance music quickly became an overwhelming part of his life.
While in college, Joel quickly became a resident on Hollands internet radio station www.basicbeats.net along with fellow artists Phynn and Rouzbeh Delavari. Joels talent for moving dance floors has allowed him to be booked at clubs and lounges around the east coast including Five, Nation, Edge, 1722, Fusion, and fellow DJ Palash’s lounges Shisha and Zaaza.
During the past 2 years, Joel Chandler has produced heavily creating house music that mirrors the constant groove and energy found exclusively in his dj sets.

ARTISTS INFO:
ERIC CLOUTIER [ The Bunker, Down, NYC via Detroit ]
In a genre and movement all too predictable with the same fifty records playing forever on a continuous loop, Eric Cloutier is quietly making himself stand out amongst Detroit’s next generation of producers and DJ’s. A DJ since 1996, he began on the same circuit of Detroit parties and clubs most have traveled, eventually establishing residencies at Ann Arbor’s Necto and Detroit’s prominent after-hour party spot, The Works.
He performed at both 2004’s Movement festival as well as 2006’s Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and has shared the decks with world-famous DJ’s such as Daniel Bell, Steve Bug, Jan Krueger, Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott. In 2005, he was handpicked as a chosen replacement for the next batch of DJ’s at Detroit’s monthly “Untitled” parties, renowned for their brazen and intricate approach to techno in Detroit.
Now based in NYC, he works closely at The Bunker with fellow Detroit DJ Derek Plaslaiko, as well as starting his own monthly, Down, focusing on the deeper, sexy, more heady side of techno and house. Tasteful yet mildly abrasive, his blend of minimal techno infused with dub sensibilities firmly entrenches his sound in Detroit’s rich past while looking towards the future.
